Tucked away in a little corner of Market Square, this place reminded us a lot of how D's Six Packs used to be (before they expanded and remodeled). The downstairs is one long counter directly in front of the grill and pizza oven. There are a couple of tables in the back but it's not a big space by any means. Upstairs is a more traditional bar area; it's where the whiskey lives. It is also pretty tight, though.
It's a casual, friendly atmosphere. Everyone there seemed to be enjoying their jobs, which goes a long way toward creating an inviting space. Mouth full of burger, "A" commented "This is fucking good..." and the cook teased "I didn't quite catch that." In addition to the burgers, they have amazing pizzas (J cried a bitter tear realizing that she forgot her leftovers in "A's" trunk; it would have been so good for breakfast!), but that's as far into the menu as we got.
They have a good beer selection, definitely focusing on local and micros, and a pretty extensive whiskey selection, as you would expect. Really though, I don't know if you'd go there unless you were eating. The good news is, it's totally worth going there and eating.

Is that a Knob Creek pint glass? Are they aware of The Riley? I hope it's not for drinking whiskey straight...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, the Knob Creek pint glass was full of beer, not Knob Creek. Otherwise, this would have been the first and last stop of the night.
