Bar Marco

Bar Marco, like its predecessor Embury, is a bar that's waiting for us to make a lot more money. When that happens, things will be great. First, we will have a lot more money, which is always nice, second, we will be able to spend our evenings lolling around with $10 cocktails and not giving a shit. For now though, it's a sometimes treat.

They've renovated the downstairs bar and opened it up nicely.  The upstairs is now "a Swiss army knife of a space" per the bartender. They have private parties, art shows, bands, etc. So, it's very different than what Embury/Firehouse used to be.

The things that are similar to Embury are the amazing specialty cocktails. They are made with great care and precision. They're delightful and, in our fantasy world with more money, we could drink them all day.

The food, while limited, is made up of small plates of delectable and fattening things. J was obsessed with trying the apple and cheddar pop tarts with duck fat buttercream and they did not disappoint. Everything is locally sourced and everything that we had was delicious.

The staff was young and friendly. They were knowledgeable about their drinks and their food. They made J an amazing cognac sazerac and explained the nuances of A's whiskey (against his initial protests). Really, the only thing not recommending this place is our pocket books. Feel free to paypal emergency cocktail funds to boozeburgh@gmail.com; we'll spend them wisely.
