Kelly's

Kelly's is an awesome bar...for four people.  Unless it is nice out, in which case there is a big back patio with ample seating.  However, inside there are two rows of just four person booths with one big booth in the corner, which somehow always seems to be occupied by three people (Really three people?!  Do you need that giant booth?!). The bar area is long, but it is narrow and partitioned so there is very little room to hang out there either.  So, unless it is nice out, or you get really lucky and get the big booth, we would advise against going to Kelly's with more than four people.

That said, if you have four people, this is a great bar.  It has a great vibe, hip crowd, cool decor; all and all a really comfortable place to hang out.  The one exception...the one little exception...is the service.  It can be terrible, especially on one of those nice days when the patio is open.  You are not allowed to go the bar if you are at a table, and it can take forever to get a drink.  Does management not know that one person cannot  possibly handle 20+ tables at once?  Do they not look at the weather and say, “huh, our bar will be packed tonight; maybe we should put on another server.” It has always been this way.  Maybe the margins just aren't there; maybe they just can't afford to put on more servers?  We don't know.  We can't tell you how many times we have thought about going to Kelly's and then thought better of it as a result of that.  Please, owner person, put another server on the schedule for when you know your bar is going to be busy.

Fortunately for Kelly’s, it has another secret power: Its mac & cheese.  Holy shit.  If you have never had Kelly's mac & cheese, you must change your plans for tonight and go get their mac & cheese.  You will write us tomorrow and thank us.  It is that good.  We have never brought anyone there, even after a lot of hype, and had them be like, "oh, it is ok".  Because it is not ok.  It is amazing.  Go eat it.

So, we love this bar.  We really do.  Does it need some improvements...yes.  Will we still go there?  All the time.
