Initial thoughts: polish, post-middle-aged, lumberjack sports bar. It is nice enough. It is clean. The menu is palatable. The very attentive Slovakian waitress will try to goad you into another shot by explaining that in her home country, you take two shots so that you won't limp; the idea being that you need to even out both legs. This led us to ruminate on the old, "in Soviet Russia the shot takes you" joke. That guy, whoever he was, built a whole career out of that joke! Does anyone else imagine that guy as Balki from Perfect Strangers? All of the weird ethnic stereotypes from the 80’s are starting to run together…we digress.
This place really wants to be a chain. In fact, they opened their second bar downtown recently. We hate it when people who work at bars have to wear branded uniforms. I am sure there is some bar/restaurant owners’ guide that tells people this is a good thing to do, but it just makes the place feel plastic. Some people might like that, but we don't.
Other than that, there isn't much to this place. The light is a bit too bright. The beer and wine selections are standard. The specials are good, but nothing really stands out. If you happen to live in the area, it is probably a good place to go, but we wouldn't go out of our way to go back there again.
