Cafe Nikos

Given that this review will involve vomiting and an Easter Peep shot, it is going to be surprisingly positive.

Just like Goldilocks, we visited three bears bars on Shiloh Street looking for the right one. The porridge in Redbeard's tasted too much like "Honky Town Old Man Sports Bar." The porridge in Sloppy Joe's was way too "Wow, When Did These People Crawl Out of Their Hole?" The porridge at Nikos was just about right.

Despite our protestations that it sounded disgusting, the bartender gave us one of her Easter Peep shots on the house. And you know what, it wasn't that bad. J loves a Peep. The shot was blue and sweet and had an adorable Peep hanging on the rim; who could be so heartless as to turn that away? Also, any bartender who cares that much about making thematic drinks gets an A+ in our book.

Although It was definitely a locals bar, everyone was really friendly and seemed like they were having a good time. Even the girl who was vomiting her face off in the bathroom at 10:30pm on a Friday night. She was having less of a good time, but was still super friendly and appreciative when J brought her a glass of water and a paper towel. If that girl still had it in her to be nice, then it's safe to say the bar is full of nice people.

  1. Love Niko's! That's our regular Wednesday night karaoke spot. The crowd there is almost always awesome to us karaoke singers (although you do on occasion get the stray old drunk man who should have been sent home before he started making lewd comments, but oh well). Not sure if you guys tried any food, but the kitchen there is delicious as well.
