Shiloh Grill

Most people we know have been to Harris Grill: great porch, terrible service, mediocre food. Turns out there is a carbon copy on Mt. Washington called Shiloh Grill.  It has the same owners, same concept, and even some of Harris Grill's menus (see picture).

Shiloh Grill, like Harris Grill, has a huge front porch, a small bar and seating area, and a large two-story restaurant. We both agreed that it was more of a restaurant than bar but we were hungry, so fuck it. We tried to go to the Bigham Tavern before Shiloh, but it was wing night and beyond packed.

So, what about Shiloh? It had perfect lighting and great atmosphere in general. The service was prompt and professional.  The bar itself was comfortable with a nice foot-rail and purse hooks. We made a friend at the bar who lives in Mt. Washington and has a store in Lawrenceville. She thought it was very un-Pittsburgh of us to be in Mt. Washington when we are from the East End. We sadly agreed.  She gave us a good run-down of Mt. Washington, which is always helpful when you are new-comers to a neighborhood.

A had chili and mac & cheese and J had a chopped salad. The food was acceptable, as it always is at Harris. The beers were $7.50 a piece though, which is edging towards ridiculous. The clientele at Shiloh was older than at Harris for sure. As a bar, it’s not much. There was a lot of available seating on the porch which is a great thing and something you never see at Harris.
